Through the use of HDAC inhibitors and coimmunoprecipitations , we furthermore demonstrate that the effects of RB on PPARgamma mediated control of the cell cycle and apoptosis depend on the recruitment of histone deacetylase 3 ( HDAC 3 ) to PPARgamma . ^^^

Repression by Rb is mediated , at least in part , by a histone deacetylase complex , whose enzymatic activity relies on HDAC 1 , HDAC 2 or HDAC 3 . ^^^ This latter effect was unlikely to be due to activation of Rb function , since HDAC 3 did not increase Rb E2F1 interaction . ^^^ Taken together , our data suggest a model in which Rb mediates the recruitment to E2F regulating promoters of a repressive complex containing either HDAC 1 , HDAC 2 or HDAC 3 and the histone binding protein RbAp48 . . ^^^
